TEA AND TANGO – Established 2014
UK Argentine Tango Association Member Number 2053
ESTABLISHED IN 2014 and based in Greater Manchester, TEA AND TANGO is the pseudonym for Ruth who runs Argentine Tango milongas and tea dances at various venues across the North West.
Why did I start dancing Argentine Tango? My son was 15 and I could go out dancing. I discovered Modern Jive but this type of dancing wasn’t satisfying enough, and I heard of Argentine Tango – I didn’t understand it, didn’t know if I could do it, but I had seen versions of it in films and on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing and decided to go along to a class. From the beginning it captured my soul – when I have the opportunity to dance in the arms of a fabulous leader I am able to experience connection, emotion and musicality in a truly humbling form.
I have run my own businesses for many years, and have been dancing for more than 15 years. I am a qualified adult trainer and spent many years as a nightclub Catering Manager and Conference Centre Manager. I taught ‘Modern Jive’ and was an Argentine Tango demonstrator. I run my events professionally and customer friendly – a warm welcome is guaranteed, with no cliques.
I am an official member of the UK Argentine Tango Association and was actively involved in 2020/21 in it’s formation. I continue to be actively involved in the UKAT Association’s monthly meetings, and would encourage all Argentine Tango dancers to join the Association (check out www.argentinetango.co.uk email ukargentinetango@gmail.com )

Our next TEA DANCE
Adults only please. Our average age group is 40-80 and our dancers can wear stilleto-heeled shoes whilst dancing to milonga tracks which is very energetic – we therefore respectfully request that parent/grandparents DO NOT bring along children/teenagers under the age of 18 years old. Our Public Liability Insurance documents specifically state that our clientele MUST be aged 18 years or older.
BOUQUETS

OurTea And Tango Argentine tango tea dances are exceptionally friendly – so if you haven’t given us a try so far, do please consider popping in. We get a full mix of beginners and intermediate/advanced dancers attending, so whatever your level you should feel quite at ease. Dancers from abroad pop in when travelling so we are quite cosmopolitan. At our tango tea dances there are a large selection of flavoured teas and coffees and a selection of juices and squashes. PLEASE NOTE – WE NO LONGER HOLD FAB FRIDAYS at Grappenhall Community Centre due to the INCREASINGLY POOR QUALITY OF THE FLOOR but it was a fabulous venue until then.
We have brilliant tango DJs
who incorporate their own tango style into the distinctive events we provide, whether it was our Fabulous Fridays with a 50/50 mix of traditional and alternative tango music, or our very traditional Argentine Tango Sunday tea dances at Croft.
AND
We organise FANTASTIC tango workshops
We have a lovely crowd who travel from all over – why don’t you give us a try?
Great to have you visit us – do come again
AND RECOMMEND US TO YOUR FRIENDS!
Thanks everyone!
